LAYLA BAKERY

We are a neighbourhood bakery located on Portobello Road serving sourdough, pastries, and coffee. We make everything from scratch and bake it fresh each morning.

We use Assembly’s House Blend coffee and Good and Proper Tea. Our drinks menu also includes house made lemonade, freshly squeezed orange juice, chai lattes, iced tea, and cold brew coffee in warmer months.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This is a full time role of up to 48 hours per week. We are looking for an experienced barista with great attention to detail, efficiency and cleanliness. You will have at least 1 year’s experience in a high volume coffee environment, serving quality shots and steaming milk. You must be comfortable working with our La Marzocco Linea machine. Most importantly, you must be able to deliver great tasting coffee in a friendly, engaging and customer-focused manner.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to consistently dial in Grinder

• Open and close down coffee section independently

• Multi-task and perform a busy service solo and with an assistant

• Maintain the desired speed of service, quality of product, and overall consistency

• Deliver coffee to customers in an engaging and friendly manner building rapport with regular customers

• Ability to pour latte art and understand all milks used at Layla

• Maintain cleanliness of section at all times

• Strong communication between rest of the team

• The role will at times include assisting the FOH team, clearing tables, serving customers, and washing up
