Macatia and Coffee, a thriving and popular specialist coffee shop in Herne Hill, is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Barista.
This role is pivotal in maintaining our high standards of coffee preparation and service, ensuring consistency and quality, and leading our team of baristas and servers

Responsibilities:
Quality Control and Standards:Ensure all coffee beverages meet our quality standards and are consistently prepared to perfection.Conduct regular quality checks on all coffee products.Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the coffee bar area.
Training and Development:
Train new baristas on coffee and alternative drink preparation techniques, customer service, and equipment maintenance.Conduct regular skills assessments and training sessions to ensure all baristas are up-to-date with the latest coffee trends and techniques.Develop and maintain training materials and manuals.
Assist in the daily operations of the coffee bar, ensuring efficient and smooth service.
Manage team scheduling to ensure the shop is optimally staffed at all times. Report daily inventory requirements to the Operations Director and order stock as needed. Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance and repair needs to the Operations Director. Order stock as and when required to ensure a continuity of supply to our customers.
Collaborate with the Operations Director to introduce new coffee drinks and products. Stay informed about industry trends and implement new ideas to keep our coffee offerings fresh and exciting. Experiment with and develop new recipes, brewing methods, and presentation styles.
Lead by example, demonstrating exceptional barista skills and customer service. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Address any performance issues and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Head Barista or Senior Barista with team leading responsibilities, with expertise in coffee preparation and service.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Passion for coffee and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of industry trends and innovative coffee techniques.
